SHEDO

Social Health and Education Development Organization (SHEDO) is a Non-Government Organization established in 2014 under the Society Registration Act 1973. The organization was established in the Timarni block of Harda district, Madhya Pradesh. Its value proposition is based on the organization’s core belief that children and youth must be adequately empowered. In addition, they must possess enough self-esteem to independently face the world and its challenges.
Keeping this in mind, all community interventions of SHEDO have been specially designed to address an individual’s need for inclusion, safety, self-expression, constitutional literacy and entrepreneurship. Music is at core of SHEDO and we believe music is influential medium to reach and connect to people cogently. In order to strengthen relationships with its beneficiaries, SHEDO uses various forms of innovation and creativity, to make its interventions highly impactful. The organization has, over a period five years, strategically built its key resources in the form of a group of energetic and enthusiastic young men and women, having their key strengths and competencies in different domains of the development sector.

SHEDO is a youth led organization working in interior area of Harda district with tribes, youth & adolescents. They create awareness about constitution and cinstituional values with the help of music.

Background of organization -
We started as a youth group centered on music, drama and educational innovation which was active in social and cultural activities from college years. This group, associated with NSS and social activities, had worked with and around tribal life since its inception and used to raise issues and advocate especially for children and young people. Three individuals of group left their mark in field of music at district and state level along with trying new innovative musical methods for class room learning. After their respective graduation they started to work with different organizations in order to understand the working nature of social organizations and required skill set. After gaining experience from various jobs of diverse nature they felt the need to work with children and youth on inclusive education, constitutional literacy, life skills and active citizenship. Need for such organization arise from the core question of limited opportunities for youth and children in rural and semi urban areas, lack of awareness on constitution and child rights, uninteresting educational curriculum and dying local folk music. Founding members of the organization wanted to start a grass root organization in Timarni with beneficiaries hailing from marginalized, tribal, rural and semi urban communities.
