Peer Leader
About Peer Leader
This initiative aims to nurture the agency of adolescents and young leaders through a peer leader model in selected districts, prioritising the most vulnerable.
The programme focuses on deepening the understanding of critical social issues, including child marriage, gender-based violence, violence against children, and emotional well-being. By fostering active civic engagement and meaningful participation among adolescent girls and boys, this initiative also seeks to strengthen youth leadership, with a strong emphasis on gender equity.
Implementation Areas
Peer Leader is being implemented in three districts: West Singhbhum and Giridih (UNICEF focus districts), and Pakur, which has the highest population of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and a high prevalence of child marriage.
We are collaborating with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), which has a dedicated domain working with PVTG communities in Pakur, supported by a well-established workforce from these communities.
