Approach: To build perspective on social issues through history & civics subjects taught in middle school to integrate new methods and learning processes in classrooms using non-violent practices. Sambhavna - A Joyful Learning program helps to create a joyful and engaging learning environment for children that enables them to become Active Global Citizens with the values of peace and non-violence. During the implementation, we focus to prepare them for a respectful life and livelihood through life skills.
The aim is to develop the importance of social science subject and provide students with the tools and skills to interpret these complex social phenomena will not only make the learning process more powerful and joyful but also help students develop the most important life skills like asking the right questions, interpret reality from different viewing points, form authentic stories, leadership development, and become self-aware.
Our approach is centered on values of experiential based learning, in our knowledge and observation there are very few initiatives that are using innovative methods to teach Social Sciences in mainstream education. Social sciences is one of the most neglected yet one of the most complex subjects. It is important to generate interest and engagement of children towards social and anthropological concepts so that they develop the capacity to learn from our collective past and build a better society.
About Program: Through the Sambhavna - A Joyful Learning program we have been Implementing experiential learning methods in the regular curriculum of Social Science subject for greater engagement of students and life skills development.
Similar interventions are done with senior students to prepare them for post-school life by investing in their abilities like Decision Making, Conflict Resolution, Systems Thinking, Gender sensitivity and Self Awareness.
Capacity building sessions, mentoring with teachers and engagement with Management Committees are designed to equip various stakeholders towards a quality educational environment.
Constitutional literacy: To develop active citizenship and constitutional awareness by asking them to perform tasks based on fundamental rights and duties. Through this developing democratic practices in school.
Leadership journey: To develop decision-making skills, understanding body changes, conflict handling by practicing empathy, non-violence & relationships.
Teachers engagement: Perspective building on education, capacity building to use experiential tools in class-rooms and to make learner-friendly classrooms.
