About Rubi Khan
Rubi has always had an interest in social work, and has had a special interest in topics relating to the environment. From a low-income family, Rubi has done her bachelor’s and is passionate about mobilizing young people to affect change.
As a GreEntrepreneur, Rubi’s project focuses on soil conservation and raising awareness on how the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides can erode soil quality over time and what other alternatives available are. While it was not an easy journey, with the community members initially being resistant to Rubi’s suggestions, Rubi has seen a significant change in the attitudes of the community members. She had a cohort of 31 students who she educated on the benefits of practicing organic farming and encouraged the adoption of nutrition gardens at the household level using homemade natural garden fertilizers, with many community members contacting her even after the programme was over to understand the setting up of gardens in their homes.
She plans to continue the outreach and help more families set up nutrition gardens in their home and have access to local, clean and organic produce.
About their project: :
