Dr. Manu Gupta

Dr Manu Gupta is an important figure in fostering resilient communities across the Asia Pacific region. With nearly three decades of experience, he has been a leading advocate for citizen-led initiatives on a global scale. As the Co-Founder of SEEDS, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting community resilience, Manu spearheads innovative solutions in disaster readiness, response, and rehabilitation.
Currently, Manu is focused on developing a national open data loss and damage platform, aiming to direct resources effectively to the most vulnerable and severely affected communities. His commitment to empowering communities in the face of adversity has earned him recognition as an Ashoka Fellow. With a degree in city planning and a doctorate in community-based disaster management from Kyoto University, Japan, Manu brings a wealth of expertise to his work, blending academic rigour with practical solutions.
