Students for COVID Relief
Our SaathNirbhar Story:
As they watched distressing news stories about migrant workers’ plight during the Covid-19 lockdown, Shanya and her fellow students from Delhi University shared a sense of helplessness. Unable to step out of their homes but determined to make a difference, they joined hands with students from University of Calcutta to form Students For Covid Relief. Channelising the energy, initiative, and talent of their peers, they organised student-centric online events like dance performances, quizzes, and career talks. Through these efforts, they raised funds to support the work of organisations providing on-ground relief such as Sang, Hemkund Foundation, and Goonj.
About Us:
Students for covid relief started as a student community to raise money for migrant workers impacted by the first lockdown. SFCR held small ticket events directed at students including art competitions, dance classes, quiz competitions, and talks, raising upwards of 210k, all of which went into donations.
