Our SaathNirbhar Story: 
Soumya Dabriwal’s personal encounter with rural women’s struggle during menstruation fuelled her passion for the cause of distributing sanitary napkins. Not only has she championed the cause in 18 states in India but also in Nepal,Ghana, Tanzania- empowering women to access a healthier life everywhere during Covid and otherwise. Filmmakers have only taken the risk of picking issue,they think as big enough. Menstruation hampers women participation especially rural women which Padman took the risk of unmasking a topic considered as taboo.In a time,when feminism and women empowerment is on rise,Soumya Dabriwal of Project Baala spearheaded the campaign on easier access of reusable sanitary napkins and providing livelihood through it. The need became more acute during Pandemic to which they successfully impacted the lives of 3,10,000 mentruators in 4 countries (India,Nepal, Tanzania and Ghana).
About Us: 

Project Baala is an impact-oriented menstrual health solutions provider. They work specifically with marginalised and vulnerable communities of the country, helping them manage their periods better while also providing them with livelihood opportunities. Baala offers a holistic dual solution that stands on the pillars of awareness and sustainability and produces and scales outcomes at all levels of the value chain.

Their three-pronged solution includes -
1. Sustainable Absorbents: Baala Pads reusable for up to 2 years
2. Holistic Menstrual Awareness Workshops: Modules to train the beneficiaries and trainers
3. Livelihood model: Village-level women entrepreneurs who generate livelihood.

To date, Baala has impacted the lives of 3,10,000 menstruators in 4 countries (India, Nepal, Tanzania and Ghana).
