About Us: 

Rural Volunteer Centre is a Non Governmental and Non-Profit Making Organization registered under 1860 Society Registration Act, established in the year 1993 and is located in tribal village named Akajan in Dhemaji District, Assam.The organization is been particularly in Dhemaji District, Lakhimpur District and Majuli Sub-Division of Jorhat District in general throughout Assam and 2 District of Arunachal Pradesh (West Siang and East Siang). The core working area of RVC covers 11 Development Block, 45 Panchayats and approximately 750 villages across the 3 Districts.  

It is the 26th years of Rural Volunteer Centre is a Non Governmental and Non-Profit Making Organization registered under 1860 Society Registration Act, established in the year 1993 and is located in tribal village named Akajan in Dhemaji District, Assam.The organization is been particularly in Dhemaji District, Lakhimpur District and Majuli Sub-Division of Jorhat District in general throughout Assam and 2 District of Arunachal Pradesh (West Siang and East Siang). The core working area of RVC covers 11 Development Block, 45 Panchayats and approximately 750 villages across the 3 Districts.  ​d years since inception of RVC with a vision of 50 years to realize an “Epidemic free just society” in the north bank of Upper Brahmaputra River Basin. The Organization started in a community donated land through mobilizing support from the community in terms of bamboo and labor as well as a little disposition fund from SWRC, Tilonia.Since late nineties, resources started rolling to the Organization to work for the flood affected people in distress followed by to work on Community Based Disaster Preparedness. Since the early years of the new millennium we restructured our missions in the line of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) across the following thematic areas- “Promoting decent employment opportunities to eradicate poverty”, “Primary education focusing on the rural children”, “women empowerment to promote gender equity”, “Health” issues focusing on WASH, MCH and RCH to control water and vector borne diseases and bring down IMR, CMR and MMR. Mainstreaming Disaster Risk reduction has been a cross cutting issue in all the thematic areas.The works have been supporting by the global partners’ like- ECHO, DFID, UNICEF, UNDP, Action Aid, Oxfam, CRS, Save the Children, Christian Aid, AFNA as well as national partners like- Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Nawajbai Tata Trust, VHAA, National Foundation of India (NFI) and many to add to the list. The works during the year mainly focused on promoting “Climate adaptive livelihood practices”, “integrating technology in education”, rights of the children”, “promoting reproductive and sexual health rights of adolescent”, “ awareness generation on nutrition and health” with special focus on “adolescent girls”, “pregnant women” and “lactating mother”, “promoting youth forum” promoting “Children Group”, “Child Protection Committee”, “Youth forum” and “Mothers Group”.
