Farm2Food Foundation
The North East, India is a burgeoning region with rich indigenous resources, traditionally inherited skills, and youth potential. It is also a region with enriched, fertile lands. The region has immense untapped social & economic potential. Despite these facts, the region has not been able to grow socio economically on par with rest of the country, and has historically depended on other states for food grains and other consumables. In this context, at Farm2Food our objective is to provide the training and tools which will enable local communities to take control of their own production and development processes in order to build a productive, change-oriented, and self-reliant society. We are a non-profit social enterprise that builds partnerships with communities, providing the training and tools for taking up sustainable, farm based livelihoods. By engaging in farm and food entrepreneurship, individuals and households become self-dependent, and children who have enough nutritious food to eat attend school more, and perform better. By selling the products that they create (such as vermi-compost), farm-preneurs are able to generate income, and eventually invest in education and nutrition in their communities. Further by practicing sustainable organic farming techniques, the environment around these communities benefits, enabling future generations to thrive! The objective is to Increase the income of people involved in the agricultural value chain and thereof build a productive, change oriented and self-reliant society. This society would be a positive force to reckon with complete ownership of its own development process.
