Ujwal, a seasoned professional, has seamlessly transitioned between the realms of banking and the social sector, demonstrating his versatility and leadership prowess. With a career spanning 28 years in banking, including stints at prominent institutions such as SBI, Standard Chartered Bank, Timesbank, and BNP Paribas, he ascended to executive roles and spearheaded retail banking divisions.
In 2002, Ujwal embarked on a new chapter as the CEO of Pratham, a renowned non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in India. For six years, he drove impactful initiatives aimed at advancing educational outcomes and empowering underprivileged communities. Subsequently, he assumed the role of CEO at GiveIndia, further amplifying his contributions to the social sector.
Even after retiring from full-time engagement in 2010, Ujwal's commitment to social impact remained unwavering. He has continued to lend his expertise as an adviser to prominent firms such as PwC and KPMG, while also assuming board positions at various non-profits and serving as a partner at NCore, a social incubator.
