About their project: :
The Eco-Connect project is an initiative aimed at twin objectives of agroforestry and nature awareness and conservation. The initiative aims to foster environmental awareness and conservation in the rural community of Kurai, Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh. By engaging local farmers, students, and the forest department, the project seeks to enhance biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote sustainable living practices. It aims to instil a sense of environmental responsibility among the local population, particularly in light of recent challenges such as tiger attacks and deforestation due to infrastructure development. The key activities of the project include tree plantation campaigns in collaboration with schools, colleges, and local institutions to enhance green cover and promote biodiversity, community awareness programs, including workshops and meetings, to educate the public on the importance of environmental conservation and the benefits of tree planting. Local youth and students are to be actively engaged in nature awareness programs and trained to care for the planted trees. Agroforestry initiatives incorporate activities like nature walks and butterfly watching to foster ecological awareness and promote sustainable farming practices along with volunteer programs to encourage local communities to participate in tree planting and care, promoting a sense of community ownership over environmental efforts.
