Shaikh Yasar

A local from Ahmedabad, Yasar has been working on the issue of climate change for the past two years and has worked with various youth groups and has led campaigns with a local organization Urja Ghar. Under his project, he conducted weekly sessions that drove healthy discussions on climate change to raise awareness on the effects our daily actions have on the environment and what we can do to mitigate the damage caused. These sessions also involved social action tasks for hand-on learning. With the support of Urja Ghar, he is making climate change a part of the mainstream conversation in the community by drawing connection to how it affects their day-to-day, for example how the local dump yard’s toxins can potentially reduce their life spans by five years, and what can be done at a personal and community level to change that.
