Pratap Kumar Deo, hails from Chhamunda village, a tribal-dominated rural area in Jujomura block of Sambalpur district, Odisha. He is an enthusiastic young leader with a strong passion for community work, particularly in the fields of climate change and sustainability. With a post graduation degree in Rural development & extensive active citizenship experience through his involvement with the organisation Patang, Pratap has been dedicated to grassroots initiatives for many years. He is a self-starter who embraces responsibility for his community and learns through hands-on experiences. Pratap is committed to fostering deep relationships with the community and is driven by hope and a desire to create positive change.
About their project: : 
The Green Heaven project is an initiative aimed at establishing climate-resilient food forests and nurseries in the Sambalpur district of Odisha, India. It focuses on several key activities aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental conservation including the establishment of climate-resilient food forests with native species to boost biodiversity and food security, nursery development to grow climate-adapted crops, training sessions for building local capacity in sustainable agriculture and permaculture. Additionally community engagement programmes are undertaken to ensure active participation in planning and implementation, fostering ownership of the project. The initiative targets local youth and farmers, providing them with training and resources to cultivate native plant species and climate-resilient crops. By addressing the region's environmental challenges, such as unpredictable weather and declining agricultural productivity, Green Heaven seeks to foster a sense of environmental stewardship and community engagement. The project is designed to create lasting ecological and social impacts, ultimately improving the livelihoods of the local population while ensuring environmental conservation and climate action.
