About Prakhar Agrawal
As a student at Delhi University, Prakhar is the coordinator of Eco-Club, the Environment Society of his college where he conducts plantation drives in and around the college campus. He started ‘Young Influx’ which is an online youth-focused platform, where he publishes stories of youth working in the climate sector. As a GreEntrepreneur, his project is completely online as he believes that social media is the upcoming medium for climate action and he wants to reduce the digital carbon footprint. On World Environment Day, June 5, Prakhar launched the “Did You Know” campaign under the Be Climate Conscious programme on Instagram. He mobilized 40 young participants to be part of his project and continues to onboard more in the successive months. The project prompts the participants with small, achievable actions to perform each day in order to reduce their carbon footprint in everyday life. The project also shared educational resources to inculcate sustainability as a way of life in the participants, and they were encouraged to track their process and post about it on their social media platforms to further raise awareness within their online community. He also put up success stories on Young Influx in order to encourage active participation and motivate the participants. Prakhar aims to continue the project Young Influx and create dialogues around digital carbon footprint, aiming to bring it to the forefront of the climate change conversation. He is working towards making Be Climate Conscious a nation-level project and expanding his network of young thought leaders.
