Nikhil Shetty

Nikhil embarked on a transformative journey in 2015 when he left his IT job to join the Azim Premji Foundation Fellowship in Bageshwar, Uttarakhand. There, he immersed himself in understanding child development and learning, working directly with first-generation school goers. This experience provided invaluable insights into the challenges the children face in adapting to formal learning spaces and societal perceptions of public schools.

Following his fellowship in 2018, Nikhil co-founded the Upkram Educational Foundation, dedicated to enhancing the foundational language and literacy skills of underserved children in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. In his role, Nikhil leads strategy, partnerships, and compliance, while also mentoring youth passionate about education and social impact. With over a decade of experience working with children, Nikhil firmly believes in the transformative power of education to alleviate intergenerational poverty.

Beyond his professional life, Nikhil finds joy in theatre and enjoys  literature on education, philosophy, and psychology.
