About Laldawnpuii
Laldawnpuii is a Mizo living in the state of Tripura. After setting up Zamzo, a non-profit organization in 2019, plantation and awareness drives on organic farming have been a regular feature at the organization.
Under the Heal Jampui hills project, she aimed to create awareness among young people about climate change and train them to take on leadership in and ownership of climate action by educating them about sustainable development. She formed a cohort of 20 young people to run the SDG toolkit, run awareness campaigns, clean up drives and educational seminars. As a part of these drives, the cohort regularly writes to the authorities for changes at a policy-level, which has resulted in the introduction of more stringent rules on littering. Moreover, she has also been highlighting environmental concerns through media and different platforms, such as live drama/skit, radio, articles, seminar, poster making, etc.
She is continuing to reach out more members of the community in order to increase participation by getting more schools to adopt the SDG toolkit, and is looking to collaborate with other organizations in order to increase their network of young changemakers.
