About Anjali Tiwari
Anjali is a social worker currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work from University of Lucknow. With a history of volunteering spirit as a part of the NCC and for other organizations, Anjali has been an active member of the civil society since a young age.
As a part of her project, she put her mobilizing and campaigning skills to use and created a cohort of young climate warriors to take charge of the issue using effective promotional and awareness techniques, and organizing workshops. She shortlisted a group of 40 students from Lucknow University to perform weekly tasks by adopting the SDG UnEarth toolkit for five months and asked them to track their progress. Through workshops and active dialogue, the students gained deeper knowledge on the issue of climate change. In collaboration with the administration, sustainable practices such as recycling programmes, energy-saving initiatives, community clean-up events and plantation drives were also conducted. The focus of the programmes was to bring about a sense of shared responsibility in order to not just drive active participation in the activities but also to take the learning home and apply it to their lives.
Anjali says that her journey has just begun and she plans to keep the programme going and involve the administration in order to bring about substantial sustainable practices throughout the campus.
About their project: :
Call For Action, an on-campus drive to mobilise the student community for shared responsibility on climate action.
