Based at Bongaigaon, The Jubayer Masud Educational & Charitable Trust is a registered Charitable organization working for community development with special emphasis on child education and community health in rural areas of Bongaigaon, Assam. The public charitable trust was formed in 20th April 2007 in the memory of Jubayer Masud, a student of class III of Manah Jatio Vidhyalaya, Lengtisinga, Bongaigaon, who was kidnapped and brutally murdered while returning from school to his home. In the memory of his sad demise, the Jubayer Masud Educational Trust was set up with an aim to work for enhancement of education and health.

 

Educational related activities:

Since education is the prime focus of the organization, it has been carrying out it’s activities with special emphasis on education.  Significant measures were taken to improve the poor learning condition of the student in rural and chore areas. Concern was given to bridge the learning gap among the students. Some of the brief description of programmes on education being undertaken by JMECT is highlighted as follows.

The project entitled Provide Quality Education to Rural Children was started in the year 2011-12 through the support of National Foundation for India. In 2012 The Action North East Trust sanctioned a project named Promote life skills education and healthy practices among the student. The project ‘Setting up Educational centers for refugee students’, supported by  The Action North East Trust was launched in the year 2012, to provide alternative leaning to refugee children who were displaced during the ethnic riots. Through the support of Tata Trusts, another project ‘Supplementary education for school going and drop out children’ was implemented in the same year to reduce vulnerable school dropout children. Since then the support from TATA Trusts is continue till now. With the support of CSR fund of Wipro Limited, Bangalore, another project on primary education titled as ‘Ensuring quality education for children residing in rural areas of Bongaigaon’ was launched since 2015. One of the unique projects of the organization known as ‘Rehnuma’ was funded by Social Justice and National Foundation for India towards empowering local vulnerable people.
