Task – (FD5SG2) –Identify five personal superstitions that you regularly follow/believe in and abstain from them for a week, with three testimonials to verify your act.
Experience-
The peer listed out five superstitions that she used to follow:
- If a black cat crosses your path, it’s a bad omen.
- Twitching of eye is inauspicious.
- Praying while seeing pair of common mynas will bring good luck.
- It’s inauspicious to remove gold ornaments from body at night.
- Not to cut nails after sunset.
The peers abstain from them for a week as per the task. In the beginning, abstaining from following them was difficult as it was habitual but later the habit has changed.
- She was afraid that if a black cat crosses her path and if she passes that, she will have all the bad luck. But one day, she dared to pass that without giving a second thought. She was afraid that something bad might happen with him but everything went fine. After this incident, she stopped in believing in this superstition.
- After knowing the actual reason behind the superstition “Not to cut nails after sunset”, she stopped believing in that.
- She believed in the superstition that removing gold ornaments at night is inauspicious. But later her friend told the actual reason behind it that since gold is a precious ornament and in previous days there was no electricity, so while removing gold it might get lost. So from there it was made a superstition to let everyone follow them and to stop everyone from losing it. After knowing this, she stopped believing in this superstition.
Learning-
Being superstitious can affect our behavior and state of mind, influencing everything from our preparation and performance on a particular challenge. We have to stop believing in superstition and find out the actual reason behind it.
Challenges –
At first, she was afraid of the consequences of not following the superstitions but later she dared to not follow them and start learning the actual reasons behind them.
