The Hindu religion practices are curbed the Rights of adolescents

Sharing Jagrik experience Case - 3 (Community) Jagrik Name- Hans Bhagat & Soumodeep Bar Organization -SANLAAP Community Group- Amra Sabai Sammilani Sporting Club Cohort no - 2 Task no -FR4G1 Task - “Identify three Practices in your religion that curb the rights of adolescents. From your arguments of why they should be reformed and talk to three people to inspire them to personally stop those practices.” Experience – Identified three practices in my Hindu religion that curb the rights of adolescents, which are listed below: 1 Child Marriage 2 Uponayan 3 Kumari Puja Stop Child marriage because Child marriage is an evil of our society, due to child marriage, rights of the child is curbing in the following: a. Less than 18 years child can’t complete their study. b. They are physically, mentally and emotionally not strong enough. c. Physique of the Girl child is not developed to carry babies. d. Due to incomplete of Study and adopted less skills, they are deprived from job. e. Due to Child Marriage, Teen age Pregnancy, Child Trafficking, dowry death, Malnourished children, child lab our, addiction etc. increased. Stop Uponayan in adolescent age, due to Uponayan, rights of the child is curb in the following: a. Less than 18 years child can’t have decision making power for his ritual life. b. Uponayan is imposing ritual custom for Hindu religion. c. It gives more importance on gender discrimination d. During Uponayan, boy child has to stay few days in a closed door area, which is a ritualistic punishment. e. Uponayan gives the permission to worship creator/ almighty God and makes high Preach, Proudness, and discrimination of caste system. Stop Kumari Puja in adolescent age, due to Kumari Puja , rights of the child is curb in the following: a. Less than 18 years child can’t have decision making power for his ritual life. b. Kumari Puja is imposing ritual custom for Hindu religion. c. It gives more importance on gender discrimination d. During Kumari Puja, Girl child has to stay full day in empty stomach, which is a ritualistic punishment. e. Due to superiority complex, society makes barrier that girl child not to get permission to play with others. After our above mentioned findings, we shared and talk to three people to inspire them to personally stop those three practices ( Child Marriage, Uponayan and Kumari Puja ). Learning – 1 Learning about Rights of the Child. 2 Observe and Learn, Customs for Hindu religion. 3 Learn about Gender and Gender discrimination. 4 Learning that how to stop those three practices ( Child Marriage, Uponayan and Kumari Puja )in our day to day life. 5 Known about social evils like: Teen age Pregnancy, Child Trafficking, dowry death, malnourished children, child lab our, addiction etc. Challenges – 1. We got less support from our family members. We realised that family support is very important for such type of community development activities. 2. Since it was their first task, we are lacking confidence. 3. In the beginning, we got criticized among our peer group. Due to that we lost our friendship. 4. Through this task, we identified more and less believed Hindu religious people. 5. Through argument with others, we enriched more confidence to reformed and talk to three people to inspire them to personally stop those practices like Child marriage ,Uponayan and Kumari Puja.”
