Jagrik name – Ankita Ghosh and Sumi Ghosh

Cohort number – 1 (Bhagowanpur High School)

Task – (FD3CG1) – Adopt two culturally significant local sites/heritage monuments for a week after discussion with local panchayat/ASI with the help of your mentor/facilitator. Carry out measures to revive and maintain the sites with the help of your friends, class or jagrik group. Share your experiences through a video, blog, article or talk about it with 20 people.

Experience-

The Jagrik pair adopted a temple and a mosque of their community to carry out the task. At first, they made posters to aware people to stop spitting on the walls, littering near the sites and to stop people from excreting nearby. As the temples and mosques contain their moral values and are holy places.

The pair also took the charge of cleaning and maintenance of the places with the help of their friends. This also encouraged other people to maintain the cleanliness. The group also led an awareness campaign and spoke with as many people they can.

Learning-

They learnt how to carry out measures to maintain significant sites and also to involve others to form a group and carry out the task as one. This helped them to build their leadership quality and also to increase their confidence.

Challenges –

They faced many challenges as during the start of the task as many people don’t give any importance to them. Many people didn’t stop spitting even there were posters to stop people from spiting and littering. But as the days passed, many joined the group making the group stronger and unitedly they became capable to stop people from destroying the beauty of the place.
