The predominant ‘frightening future narrative’ driving the climate change initiatives and practices revolves around the "1.5-degree temperature rise leading to a catastrophic future." However, this narrative has struggled to translate into tangible shifts in practice at the individual and grassroots levels. It is neither inspiring individuals nor any on-ground collective action.
When it comes to young people, barring a few; a large section of them remain unenthused and uninspired to contribute meaningfully. There is a greater need to reimagine the way Climate Action is understood and make it inspiring and nourishing for young people. The answer lies in the intersection of psychological, economic, social and cultural needs. We must strive to curate experiences that keep these needs at the center and we believe it will have a magical effect on young people in building their faculties and also inspiring many others like them.
Changelooms-Youth Leaders for Climate Action (CL-YLCA) is one such leadership journey that identifies, nurtures and celebrates exceptional youth leaders committed to bring about self as well as community level norm shifts to address climate change.
For this year’s CL-YLCA (2023-24) journey we are inviting applications from dynamic and committed youth leaders between 18-29 yrs of age from across India.
30 most dynamic and exceptional Youth Leaders will be selected to join the batch of 2023. They will undergo one year of intense leadership experience coupled with world class mentoring from development sector leaders.
क्लाइमेक्ट एक्शन की पहलों और प्रथाओं को संचालित करने वाली प्रमुख 'भयानक भविष्य की कहानी' "1.5 डिग्री तापमान वृद्धि के इर्द-गिर्द घूमती है जो एक भयावह भविष्य की ओर ले जाती है।" हालाँकि, इस कथा को व्यक्तिगत और ज़मीनी स्तर पर व्यवहार में ठोस बदलाव लाने के लिए संघर्ष करना पड़ा है। यह न तो लोगों को प्रेरित कर रहा है और न ही कोई ज़मीनी स्तर पर सामूहिक कार्रवाई कर रहा है।
जब युवाओं की बात आती है, तो कुछ को छोड़कर; उनमें से एक बड़ा वर्ग सार्थक योगदान देने के लिए उत्साहहीन और प्रेरणाहीन रहता है। क्लाइमेक्ट एक्शन को जिस तरह से समझा जाता है उसकी पुनर्कल्पना करने और इसे युवाओं के लिए प्रेरणादायक और जरूरी बनाने की अधिक आवश्यकता है। इसका उत्तर मनोवैज्ञानिक, आर्थिक, सामाजिक और सांस्कृतिक आवश्यकताओं के अंतर्संबंध में निहित है। हमें ऐसे अनुभवों को संजोने का प्रयास करना चाहिए जो इन ज़रूरतों को केंद्र में रखें और हमारा मानना है कि इसका युवाओं पर अपनी क्षमताओं के निर्माण में जादुई प्रभाव पड़ेगा और उनके जैसे कई अन्य लोगों को भी प्रेरणा मिलेगी।
चेंजलूम्स-यूथ लीडर्स फॉर क्लाइमेट एक्शन (सीएल-वाईएलसीए) एक ऐसी लीडर्शिप यात्रा है जो क्लाइमेट एक्शन को संबोधित करने के लिए स्वयं के साथ-साथ समुदाय स्तर के मानदंडों में बदलाव लाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध असाधारण युवा नेताओं की पहचान करती है, उनका पोषण करती है और उनका जश्न मनाती है।
इस वर्ष की सीएल-वाईएलसीए (2023-24) यात्रा के लिए हम पूरे भारत से 18-29 वर्ष की आयु के बीच के गतिशील और प्रतिबद्ध युवा नेताओं को आवेदन आमंत्रित कर रहे हैं।
2023 के बैच में शामिल होने के लिए 30 सबसे प्रेरित और विशेष युवा नेताओं का चयन किया जाएगा। वे विकास क्षेत्र के नेताओं से विश्व स्तरीय मार्गदर्शन के साथ एक वर्ष के गहन नेतृत्व अनुभव से गुज़रेंगे।
Outcomes that we envisage: (परिणाम जिनकी हम परिकल्पना करते हैं:)
- Enhanced understanding of discourses on climate change (क्लाइमेक्ट एक्शन पर विचार-विमर्श की समझ में वृद्धि)
- Increased adoption of renewables in communities across India (पूरे भारत में समुदायों में नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा को अपनाने में वृद्धि)
- Increased adoption of carbon sequestration measures in communities across India (पूरे भारत के समुदायों में कार्बन पृथक्करण उपायों को अपनाने में वृद्धि)
- Increased collaborative action to build community level micro-narratives that influence practice shifts at individual as well as community level (सामुदायिक स्तर पर सूक्ष्म-कथाओं के निर्माण के लिए सहयोगात्मक कार्रवाई में वृद्धि जो व्यक्तिगत और सामुदायिक स्तर पर अभ्यास बदलावों को प्रभावित करती है)

Eligibility Criteria (Youth Leader) Please ensure that you meet the following criteria before proceeding: (आवेदन करने के लिए पात्रता मानदंड: कृपया आगे बढ़ने से पहले सुनिश्चित करें कि आप निम्नलिखित मानदंडों को पूरा करते हैं:)
- You are between 18 and 29 years of age (आपकी उम्र 18 से 29 साल के बीच है)
- You are an Indian citizen residing currently in the country (आप एक अंतराल वर्ष ले रहे हैं या 12 महीने की फूल-टाइम वायदे के लिए तैयार हैं)
- You have the working knowledge of English/Hindi (आप वर्तमान में देश में रहने वाले एक भारतीय नागरिक हैं)
- You are taking a gap year or are ready for a 12 month full-time commitment (आपको अंग्रेजी/हिन्दी का कामकाजी ज्ञान है)
You are an ideal candidate if:
- You consider yourself as a leader possessing entrepreneurial abilities and can share evidence of that from your life journey (आप खुद को उद्यमशीलता की क्षमता रखने वाला एक नेता मानते हों और अपनी जीवन यात्रा से इसका प्रमाण साझा कर सकते हों)
- You are committed to building your own leadership to affect long term systems change in the climate action space (आप क्लाइमेट एक्शन क्षेत्र में लंबी अवधि तक सिस्टम परिवर्तन को प्रभावित करने के लिए अपना स्वयं का नेतृत्व बनाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं)
- You are ready to take up and implement an existing successful climate action innovation (आपने कार्यक्रम के बारे में सभी प्रासंगिक विवरण पढ़, समझ लिए हैं)
- You have strong collaboration and local partnership building abilities (आप मौजूदा सफल क्लाइमेट एक्शन इनोवैशन को अपनाने और लागू करने के लिए तैयार हैं)
- Young social entrepreneurs between 18-35 years of age (must be Indian citizens) with working knowledge of English and/or Hindi
- Two leaders (Founder and Co-Founder/Senior Leader) from each organisation must apply together
- Social Change Initiatives/ Organisations should be in existence for at least 6 months as on 1 Jan’ 2024, with long-term plans for social change
- Must have focused engagement with adolescents/ young people and a deep interest to work in the climate action space *Unregistered initiatives can also apply

SELECTION PROCESS (चयन प्रक्रिया)
Steps to the Selection Process and Timelines (चयन प्रक्रिया के चरण और समयसीमा)
- Application: (आवेदन)
The application form gathers all primary information about you along with your vision, values and expectations from the programme. (आवेदन पत्र आपके दृष्टिकोण, मूल्यों और कार्यक्रम से अपेक्षाओं के साथ-साथ आपके बारे में सभी प्राथमिक जानकारी एकत्र करता है।) - Telephonic Conversation: (टेलीफोन पर बातचीत)
If you clear the application round, you would be invited for a 30-60 minutes long telephonic conversation. This would be communicated through email or phone call. (यदि आप आवेदन राउन्ड में सफल हो जाते हैं, तो आपको 30-60 मिनट लंबी टेलीफोनिक बातचीत के लिए आमंत्रित किया जाएगा। इसकी जानकारी ईमेल या फोन कॉल के ज़रिए दी जाएगी।) - Face to Face Interview with the Panelists: (पैनलिस्टों के साथ आमने-सामने इंटरव्यू)
Everyone who clears the telephonic round would be invited for a longer and more detailed interview with a panel. The interview will seek to assess and recommend candidates best suited for the Changelooms YLCA 2023-24 to a national panel of experts for finalizing the cohort. Everyone who gets cleared by the National panel will receive a confirmation of their selection through email and phone calls. (राष्ट्रीय पैनल द्वारा मंजूरी पाने वाले प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को ईमेल और फोन कॉल के माध्यम से उनके चयन की पुष्टि प्राप्त होगी।)
