WHAT WE DO?

We inculcate an overall development of a disadvantaged child including his/her academic as well as non-academic development. We do not just aim to help a child in getting a good education but we also aim to prepare him/her as a responsible citizen of this country.

HOW WE DO?

1. By Providing Access of Education to the Disadvantaged Children

Education Sponsorship Programme: Under this programme, we support a disadvantaged child to get a quality education in a school, so as to imbibe in him/her the basics that an individual must be familiar to led his/her life in an effective manner.

RTE-25% Facilitation Programme: This programme facilitates the underprivileged families access to a good school around their nearby location, where they can let their children study and get a quality school education as per the provision of 25% reservation in private schools for children from socially –economically backward communities under Right to Education Act 2009.

Strengthening Schools and Teachers: This programme is designed in order to provide a quality education to the children studying in government school. A designed intervention to capacitate the teachers around foundational literacy and numeracy so as to engage the children in a better way by increasing their understanding around it.

URGE Programme: This programme is named as Unlimited Resources for Generating Excellence and intends to set up a room in every far off village of Jharkhand, equipped with library, computer, electricity and other basic resources so as to help the underdeveloped to get connected with the developed.

2. By Imparting Life-Skills Education to the Disadvantaged Children

Srijan Bachpan Programme: Pratigya runs a comprehensive life education programme namely Srijan Bachpan (nurturing childhood) for underprivileged children in urban slums and rural villages. The programme is designed to develop Socio Emotional Ethical Learning (SEEL) among the children who are either connected or not connected with school setting. It has basic three objectives: active participation of children in different activities at schoolenhanced academic performance and to nurture them as aware and responsible members of the society. Regular weekly sessions pertaining to life skills, inter personal skills, civic education, financial education, legal education, language and communication, art & craft and extracurricular activities (like dancing, singing, debate, elocution, speech, storytelling, etc.) are organized with the help of professional resource persons, volunteers as well as mentored leaders in their own communities. Counseling sessions are also being conducted with the help of experts. Play way method and different forms of exercise are used as a tool to conduct these sessions. This programme has been instrumental in bringing the envisaged change and betterment in the personal, academic and social lives of the students.

3. By Sensitizing Energetic Youths to become Change Makers

YUVA Programme: The world needs change and the youth has the power. Good education necessarily entails engagement of that power in socially progressive initiatives and YUVA aims to provide with the direction they need to direct their energies constructively.

YUVA is a youth initiative to inform, inspire and mobilize youth to work for quality education for all along with other social issues. Pratigya strives to provide a platform to the youth to express themselves, analyze the problem and work effectively to support the cause by organizing numerous conferences and workshops on politico-socio-economic issues like Transparency, Democracy, Personal and Economic Liberty, Individual Rights, Education, Poverty and Governance etc. There is also an opportunity for volunteers to learn and work at the grass roots and become direct agents of change.
